Kansai Gaidai Information

Ok so i decided to make a Kansai Gaidai Information page for those seeking specific information.  I’ll slowly add to this but if anyone has anymore suggestions to add, please let me know!

Accomodation:

Homestay:

  • Costs ¥290,000 a semester, however I think you go back to the dorms for holidays.  Not 100% on that.  But yeah, you get to live with a Japanese family and experience true Japanese culture and lifestyle.  Fee’s cover breakfast and dinner (i’m assuming lunch and snacks too).

Student Dorms/Seminar Houses:

  • For Seminar Houses I, II, IV (Dorm style): ¥170,000/semester
For Seminar House III (Apartment Style: ¥200,000/semester
  • Seminar Houses are situated around a 20-30 minute walk from campus.  According to a friend of mine’s Youtube video, it can take 6 minutes and 39 seconds by bike!

Scholarships:

JASSO Scholarship:

  • I was lucky enough to score one of these bad boys.  Basically the scholarship pays out an ¥80,000 re-location allowance (or ¥150,000… conflicting information all over the place), then pays out ¥80,000 every month for up to 12 months.  I’m not 100% sure on these figures as I get conflicting information from my university’s website, Kansai Gaidai’s Website, and JASSO’s website.  Will have to confirm this.
