30 days and 12 hours till this long ass road ends and i embark for Kansai Gaidai.  It’s kinda crazy that this 13 month endeavour of mine is gonna come to an end. But what can i say? Is it exciting? Yeah i guess… Do I feel accomplished? I suppose… Scared? Not really.

A moment of reflection.

This blog was created by moi to document my experiences throughout the application process, and of course my time in Japan.  But it was created for me.  So that i could look back and relive a very special time in my life.  However, things changed.  After reading other blogs i figured i wanted to provide other people the enjoyment of reliving someone else’s life experience.

I guess i’m ok with that.

The application process for Kansai Gaidai was a grueling one.  Everyone says it, but everyone also knows for a fact that the most grueling parts aren’t the things you HAVE to do, its the WAITING for processing and notifications etc.  It’s a nightmare! Really does things to your head! Haha The anticipation builds up, you begin worrying if something goes wrong, what if you don’t get selected? NOT cool.

I consider myself lucky.  There were a billion things that could’ve gone wrong throughout my application, and my japan adventure wouldn’t happen if a single one of those things went wrong.  Eg. I wasn’t eligible to be nominated by QUT to go to Kansai Gaidai, so I had to pull some strings, then it was up to my course co-ordinator whether or not she was willing to make the necessary changes – she did, then there were only 2 positions available for nomination – but i secured one, then I got kicked out of home = no money, so i applied for help from the Australian government who never helped me in the past, by chance I got it – then i could pay rent, then i also got the JASSO scholarship to fund my exchange.

My road has been long and very brittle – ready to crumble at any moment.  But i made it.  With 30 days to go, Japan is a reality.

However, I’m not ready to go yet.  If my plane was to leave tomorrow I wouldn’t board it.  This isn’t a dream anymore, this is happening, and I’m not ready for it yet.  However, I feel as though I will be ready come 30 days from now.

On a side note: I applied for my visa on Monday.  It was cool, the process was surprisingly easy and I can go and pick my visa up tomorrow if I didn’t have work – but… i do, so i’ll have to leave it till next Monday.  The consulate was very Japanese (tiny).  And there was this security guard outside who takes all your shit before you go in lol Even my laptop! Like.. what was I gonna do with my laptop in there? Download a gun and wreak havoc? I thought about it… :P But yeah, go consulate!

30 Days and counting…

Ciao for Now!

lol That’s cool, Jace. Don’t worry – we’re all anxious about our trip, but it’s gonna be fun! Just you wait!

As far as the Visa goes…yeah, I think most of the JP consulates are small. <.< I called them to tell them that I sent off ANOTHER paid envelope (the first wasn't good enough I guess), and they asked for my name. I told them, said I'd sent off my stuff before and that I was just sending the envelope. They were basically like,

"Oh, Marnia? With the Certificate of Eligibility? Yes, we have it right here. We'll begin processing it."

I'm like, "o.O …You…know my name and what apps I have by heart?"

So, yeah. Oh, and they didn't answer the phone with, "Japanese Consulate of Houston, this is ______. How may I help you today?"

Just a simple, "Hello." <.< Huh…

man dude…i cant believe uve been blogging about japan for so long! thats truelly wicked! i cant wait to start our crazy-ass experience in japanland…! not long now muchacho :)
(picking up my visa tomorrow oooh wee^^)

I just noticed your post structure! OMG I FEEL CHEATED YOU BASTARD!

And you wouldn’t board the plane if they let you now? tsk tsk. I think I would!

Less than a month now.. exciting stuff.

?? what are you talking about? I haven’t been to your blog in like a month
