Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5

I woke up at around 9am… Stomach in chaos.  Hopped outta bed and had to run to the bathroom.  Sunday turned out to be a frustrating day for me.  This was due to:

  1. Lack of sleep
  2. My freakin stomach
  3. The cold I was getting over

I felt like a disgusting piece of human all day.  My cold was gone, but my body decided to start flushing all the crap outta my nose, so I was on the tissues all day.  I needed sleep so bad that not even a wakey potion would suffice, and I was running to the bathroom every hour.  I felt crap.  I was really tempted to stay in, but I didn’t want to waste my day.  Reluctantly, even though I didn’t let them know it, I went out again with the gang.  Not entirely looking forward to the day ahead.

Destination for Sunday was “Insa-dong”.  This place was supposed to be a shopping district kinda place. It also had a bunch of traditional Korean houses, stores, roads.

I really liked this place, it was nice.  It was pretty much just a strip of shops, from clothes to food.  Got some nice night time shots:

We were there for a while.  There were a couple of art galleries there too, which was awesome.  We checked them out.  Here are a few photo’s (Yeah, we could take photo’s in the art gallery):

The top floor was dedicated to an artist who had died 3 years ago.  His art was amazing:

However, the photo’s i took of his art, weren’t that amazing.  Sorry guys, nothin to see here.  Move on…

After the art galleries, we kept walking and shopping.  I bought a huge South Korean flag for $5! Yay!  That’s awesome.  Then we met these guys…

These guys made this stuff called “龍のひげ” or “Ryuu no Hige”.  This means “Dragon’s Moustache”.  These guys were very entertaining, lively, spoke Korean, Japanese and English and also I found the steps going into making Ryuu no Hige quite interesting.  So… I HAD to film them! This dude looked experienced, he totally knew how to sucker the tourists in, and he did an absolutely epic job of it.  He can have my money anytime. Enjoy:

After these guys we decided to do dinner.  We wanted meat.  FLESH!  Dunno how we found this place, I think some lady gave Frank or Chris a coupon or something.  But it was cool.  Basically we got a few slabs of meat (Pork? maybe… YAY!) with about 29837192863192837192831 side dishes of random stuff including wontons, kimchi, salads, condiments… amazing.

Then, I tried some of the meat/pork… omg… I began to weep immediately at the pure awesomeness that was in my mouth.  It was a very touching moment… Until we got the Shite and Ass out and started drinking up (Hite and Cass beers, remember? Shite and Ass? Shite and Ass were a big part of our trip).

We then decided to head home, and prep for an awesome night out.  We devised a plan: take 2 taxi’s to Sinchon Station.  It had to be 2 taxi’s coz we had 5 people, and taxi’s only hold up to 4 passengers.  So it was going to be the two Aussies in one taxi, and the two Americans in another… but… who gets the Japanese girl?  This had to be settled via a show of manliness.  Only the more masculine, dominant male shall recieve the Japanese beauty.  So off to battle we went, Chris and I, against the American scum that was Mike and Frank.  Blood was spilled, paving the sidewalks of Seoul… But unfortunately, Chris and I were unable to defeat the mighty Americans…

So after “Rock, Paper, Scissors”, we jumped into a taxi bound for Sinchon Station.  We didn’t mind losing too much because we ended up stealing their Ryuu no Hige.  Cop that.  We waited for Frank, Haruna and Mike for a while, possibly an hour and a half.  So we kinda got bored and took some photo’s.

Ok now… You guys need to see this shit.  In Korea, there is McDonald’s.  Fair enough…

BUT! Check this out:

IMG_2169

THEY HAVE MCDONALD’S DELIVERY GUYS!!! zomgwtfux!?!?  You see this little beasts carving up the streets of Seoul all the time.  Anywayz, on with the story!

We then decided to try taxi around and try find them at places we thought they might be… uhh… i dont even think, even via taxi, that we made it anywhere we wanted to go.  We eventually ended back where we started at Sinchon station…  After looking at a train map down at Sinchon Station we came to a realisation…  Of all the stations we could have met at, we decided on Sinchon.  Turns out that Sinchon has TWO FREAKIN STATIONS! GAH!  Chris and I immediately started walking to the other Sinchon station, but by that time we were pretty over the whole Sinchon idea.  So we kinda half-assed our way there, did see anything, then grabbed a taxi home.

Oh, might I just mention.  Gotta keep in mind that we didn’t have any phones on us at the time.  So we weren’t able to call each other…  Gah!

However, Chris and I weren’t about to end our night! OH NO!  There was still one place left to go… Bong’s Bar! Haha!

We made it back to the Bong House, which we bypassed for Bong’s Bar.  Downstairs was empty, however the Korean bartender, Mr. Kim, was down there.  Oh man was this guy a character or what!?  He was absolutely awesome, full of energy, genuinely excited to have customers, but not only customers, WESTERN CUSTOMERS!  Chris and I played some pool, drank some beer/whisky, talked to Mr. Kim.  Turn’s out Mr. Kim is Mr. Bong’s older brother!

Bong’s a person! lol

Bong was out doin his thing and unfortunately we didn’t get to meet him, but Mr. Kim showed us some photo’s.  Mr. Bong looked like a cool guy.  We continued to chat, listen to Korean pop music and shoot pool.

A little later on, a young Korean chap named Yong came down.  We started talking to him, I’d seen him up in the hostel earlier that day.  He was totally cool, his english was really good too.  He told Chris and I that he is moving to Australia for at least 1 year this month sometime, but for the first 6 months he will be in Sydney.  I might be able to catch up with him when I get back home, i’d really like to.  We talked about all sorts of things: Australia, Korea, Australian chicks, Korean chicks, Korean Pop music, Korean pop music chicks and whether Yong will be lucky enough to find love with an Australian girl when he is abroad lol

It was a simple night, but simple is kinda what I needed.  Sunday turned out to probably be my favourite day out of my entire stay in Korea.  Got to see some art, ate awesome food, and made a Korean friend who I still talk to on Facebook.  Wonderful.

Till next time…
