Ok, so i havent updated in a while, and YES there is still 129387123 posts about the backpacking trip still to come, but i’ll still update you with the goings on of the beginning of semester.

First of all, i lost my apartment and (rage incoming) i don’t know what the fuck is up with the Japanese and giving away things that have been reserved.  It happened with my phone last semester, and now my apartment this semester.  I even paid my deposit, but they still gave my room away leaving Annie, Paul and I without accomodation on the first day back.  But! More details on that when I cover it via the backpacking posts.

I’m currently living in Seminar House 4, i’m actually enjoying the dorm layout a bit better than the apartment layout but everything still kinda feels the same as last semester – everyone’s full of energy!  (’cept me)  But that energy dies down, as reality kicks in with the noobs and study pressure really starts the weigh everyone down.

My new room mate, Tristan, is pretty cool.  He’s an american dude, hails from Seattle.  He’s pretty cool.

Today was my first day back at classes, i shudder at the memories it brings back especially now that i’m realising how much i hate cram study.  That is, I hate the logic of cramming vocabulary, grammar points and kanji into my head.  Sure it works, and up to a certain point in learning a language it’s the only way to learn, but it’s still annoying.   It’s all brute force and no elegance.  Boooooring…

Well, the good thing is i’m gonna be makin my fun outside the classrooms apparently.  I actually got into another of Prof. Paul Scott’s classes, as well as the Religion in Japan class – interesting!

Annie’s also livin in Seminar House 4 this semester, so we’ve teamed up to do the grocery thing and more home cooking to hopefully save money and give our bodies a break from the beating it took last semester.  Turns out, last night we cooked our first meal, it was delish (apart from the overcooked shitake mushrooms, which we still delish but felt quite strange in the mouth…)!

Unfortunately I can’t get my steam account working… NOOO! I spent a bunch of nights last semester playing Team Fortress 2 and Left for Dead 1 & 2 with Paul, now Steam won’t work coz the ports are blocked! ahhhh!  But they were also blocked last semester, but then later freed after a while so hopefully that happens again.  I need a Left for Dead fix!

Orientation week this year was a bazillion times better than last semester coz i didn’t have to do anything.  Also, because i was in the retard level 2 class last semester i had to take a jump test to enter level 3 for Japanese.  Motivation to study for the test was completely non-existent.  But miraculously (and i mean it, i did terrible) i got into level 3.  Yay!

Anywayz, i’ll wrap this up for now, i’ll get around to posting more of the backpacking trip tonight, should be published by tomorrow or the day after, and i’ll make sure i bring the rest out in a timely manner.  Till then, have fun.

Ciao for Now!
